First Things (Series)
First Things is a series of blog posts I wrote to harmonize the the core ideas of Christianity. It’s a good place to start if you’re curious about the faith as well as for seasoned believers who are trying to sort out the details from the things that really matter.
Because each post builds onto the next, I recommend you read them in their listed order. There will be a button at the end of each post that will take you back to this page. You can also use the buttons at the bottom of each page to navigate between adjacent posts in the series.
Part I: The Eternal Purpose
Since before time, God had conceived a plan. It’s way more than just seeking and saving the lost. It’s way bigger than Jesus dying for your sins. It’s more bold and exciting than you could ever imagine.
And He’s allowed us to be a part of it.
Part II: The Kingdom of God
While on earth, Jesus Christ spoke about the Kingdom of God more than anything else. But where is this kingdom? Why was it so central to His ministry? Here we’ll talk about the significance of the Kingdom and what it means to pursue it.
Part III: The Supremacy of Jesus Christ
The average Christian has a severely diminished view of Jesus Christ. But the Apostle Paul referred to him as having preeminence above all things. Here we’ll offer a glimpse the manifold glory of our Lord from perspectives some may have never considered.
Part IV: Rediscovering Our Hope
The Christian hope is not some vague uncertainty. When scripture speaks of our hope, they were speaking about a very specific set of events that will occur in the future. While our hope has not yet fully materialized, we can still live in the reality of this promises today.
Part V: Understanding Faith
We know that without faith it’s impossible to please God. But what is faith? What is it’s nature and substance? In this post, we explore what it means to have faith in God. We’ll learn it’s much more than mere “belief”. It’s the key that unlocks the life of God in us.
Part VI: Re-examining Love
The world talks a lot about love. But what is it really?
In this post we’ll go beyond word studies and look at examples from scripture and divine origin to better understand God’s most prominent character trait.
Part VII: Living by Divine Life
The Christian life is not about trying to be a good person and going to heaven after we die. We can do nothing from our own power and ability. Instead, we live by the life of Jesus Christ which empowers, directs, and energizes us to complete His work on earth.
Invitation to an Epic
This is a retrospective of the First Things series. It’s a place to reflect a little about what we discussed and an invitation to join our reigning King to be a part of His ageless Story.
